Connect to Home/Remote Wifi
Here are the steps to connect to a wireless network outside of ISD 112:
1. Click on the Time icon in the bottom-right corner.
2. Click “Not Connected,” then click on the SSID of the wireless network you want to connect to.
3. Enter the password for that wireless network, if applicable.
4. You should now have internet access.
Troubleshooting WiFi
If performing a restart on your Chromebook does not solve your wireless connection issues, check the following:
1. First, check to see if your Chromebook can detect wireless connections. This means that, when you click on the time in the bottom-right, then click the drop-down under the wireless icon, you should see other SSID’s available to connect.
a. If nothing is present here, first ensure that the switch to allow wireless connections is turned on.
b. If on and still showing nothing, try restarting your Chromebook again at least 3 times.
c. If SSID’s are still not present, there’s a malfunction with a wireless card that will require on-site intervention.
If you can connect to a wireless network, but still have internet issues….
2. Remove the network from your Chromebook, then reconnect to it and verify that you have the correct
a. Go to Settings (click Time, then click on the gear icon in the tray).
b. Click Network, then click WiFi.
c. Click Known Networks
d. Find the network you want to remove, then click the ellipsis icon, then click Forget.
e. Reconnect to the wireless network. Make sure that you have the correct wireless password.
3. If removing/reconnecting to a wireless network doesn’t fix the issue, it’s possible that there could be problems with the home internet itself, even if other devices can connect to it.
a. Go to where your modem is located.
b. Unplug the power from it and wait 10-15 seconds.
c. Plug it back in and wait a few minutes for the modem to power it back up.
d. Try connecting to WiFi now.
